I had a weird relationship during COVID.
Lockdown made a lot of us weird.
For me, old “white knight” behaviors came up that I thought I long eradicated.
(To be fair, there was a minute it seemed the world was ending—what better time to play the savior?)
In my confusion, a friend lent me a copy of Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus.
Really? I thought.
I remembered watching John Gray on Oprah with my mom back in the 90’s.
While dated in terms of style, I was shocked at how useful it was.
Little did I know, he has a deeply spiritual (and sexual) past.
I was also surprised that John had a lot to say about semen retention1 when I interviewed him.
New essays by email, a few times a month.
I’m preparing an episode on Evolution of Men’s Personal Development where I reference 90’s self-help as a specific data point in the male collective unconscious. I was reminded of Men Are From Mars and decided to repost this favorite.
Here’s the original YouTube video from then. (It’s reposted on all the podcast apps.)
